TOPIC: STARVATION FOR SLUGGARDS
TEXT:2 THESSALONIANS 3:6-15
MEMORY VERSE: "The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing" (PROVERBS 20:4).
A sluggard is a person who is habitually lazy. An adage of a tribe in Nigeria says, "Only hard work will cure poverty." Many youngsters decry the general poverty and economic recession in many parts of the world.
They blame their poor state on government policies, parental backgrounds or misfortunes through magical powers of enemies. Others say they are destined by God to fail in life. Bob Jones said, "God will not do for you what He has given you strength to do." The Spirit of God counsels, "Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest" (Proverbs 6:6-8). If ants could be diligent, you can do better.Lazy people eat from the crumbs that fall from the table of the diligent. You do not have to eat crumbs due to ignorance of your great potentials. Discover and develop your talents and explore your environmental potentials for your needed breakthrough. Go and work today.
QUOTE: You do not have to eat crumbs.
CHALLENGE: The cure for poverty is hard work.
PRAYER: Lord, help me never to depend on others for my needs.
