At the onset, he paid 80% of the contract sum, with a promise to pay up the balance on satisfactory completion. Since the profit margin was always less than 20%, the contractor usually would have to borrow additional funds to complete the work.      On satisfactory completion, paying that balance became a problem. To assuage the contractor, more and more jobs were given to him. Because of its infectious nature, lepers are usually kept away from living among people.      The lepers in our text did not have any better deal. They lived outside the gates of Samaria and were not to mix with fellow countrymen. Samaria at that time was under a siege by the Syrians. The text under consideration gives a divine directive as regards tampering with or trivialising the worth of any animal blood. The mosaic and post-mosaic scriptural injunctions were that no flesh should be eaten with its blood.      The blood of every animal slaughtered for meat were to be poured before the Lord. A friend of Jesus who is diligent in his studies, will rise above all his mates in school and everywhere.       For example, a child who always does his/her school assignments, is very punctual in school and church, obedient to parents and teachers, will always excel as long as he/she accepts positive corrections.      The diligent child will continue to stand out in all he does, like Daniel. The leaven The leaven to be careful of: The leaven of the Pharisees was hypocrisy. Luke12:1 Do you know that the Pharisees wouldn't have been an hypocrite: 1. A girl attended her church programme (retreat) some time ago. When it was time to return home, she missed her bus and decided to go back home by herself.
